The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth’s Leadership Academy hosted a Graduation Ceremony for their Class of 2022 students at the John James Audubon Center on June 1, 2022.

The Academy, located in Audubon, is an accredited and licensed private academic school providing education, coaching, and counseling to students in grades 7 through 12.

The students come from school districts around the region. With a four-to-one student-to-staff ratio, students receive individualized attention in an intimate learning environment where they receive academic instruction, as well as socioemotional support services as needed.

Support was on display at the distinguished ceremony as graduates received a warm greeting of applause and loud cheers as they entered the hall.

TLC Leadership Academy Chief Schools Officer, April Thomas, oversaw the evening’s event.

“We would like to say a special thank you to our parents and guardians for continuing to support our students along their high school journey. We appreciate your support. I know our graduates do and we wanted to give you a collective thank you.”

Thomas noted after the ceremony that TLC Leadership Academy’s graduation is particularly significant for the students, as they have learned to make positive choices and build meaningful connections to make a difference in their life and in their communities.

The graduates’ teachers and counselors talked glowingly about what made each of them unique, offering positive examples of how they have developed and progressed since starting at the school. They also announced the future plans for each student.

Following those remarks, each student received their certificate of achievement, indicating they met the requirements for a high school diploma. The graduates will also receive diplomas from the partner school district of which they originated.

TLC’s Chief Clinical Officer, Rob D’Alonzo, and Chief Learning Officer, Amy Scroggin, presented the Bob Schiller Life Journey Scholarship Award to the students.

The scholarship fund, named after TLC’s founder Bob Schiller, allocates $2,000 a year for four years per student, to be used for college costs, trade school, or career training if they so choose.

As the ceremony came to a close, the students received these final remarks: “You have persevered and overcome many challenges along the way. But through it all you’ve remained steadfast and for that, you deserve to be celebrated,” Thomas concluded.

The cheers and joyous noise reverberated throughout the hall as the graduates beamed with pride, rising from their seats, the Class of 2022.
