2nd Grader Wants to be a Police Officer 1 Day. Radnor Police Made Him Chief

By

Dominic Glenn is only 8, but the Ithan Elementary School student already knows he wants to be a police officer one day.

The Radnor Police gave him a sense of what that might be like when they recently made him honorary police chief for the day, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

Dominic’s swearing-in was followed by a tour of the station, and a police escort to school.

It’s part of a Radnor police effort to connect with the community that they serve. Groups are welcome to tour the station and police officers will make public appearances at block parties and pizza lunches.

“We have to be responsive to our communities and be a part of them,” says Radnor Township Police Superintendent Christopher Flanagan.

Dominic, who won his experience through a school fundraiser, enjoyed the sirens, the K9 unit, the motorcycles and riding in a police car the most.

He comes from a family of public servants. His grandfather, Michael Glenn, recently retired from the Haverford Police Department.  The second grader’s Godfather is a Radnor Township police officer and his father, Stephen, is a 911 dispatcher.
