Dr. Troy Randle, a cardiologist in clinical practice at Virtua Cardiology in New Jersey, contracted COVID-19 during the early stages of the pandemic, a time when he was enrolled in Wilmington University’s MBA program. He also suffered a stroke, becoming one of the first patients on record to have cardiac/stroke complications directly attributable to the coronavirus.

Dr. Randle, however, took just one semester off from his studies to recover.

Now, having persevered through his health problems, he will graduate from WilmU on May 23 during the 5 PM ceremony for the College of Business.

Coincidentally, Dr. Randle’s son, Christopher, an accountant at HFA Certified Public Accountants in New Jersey, was also enrolled in the same MBA program. Father and son often studied together, even competing academically, and will graduate together.

Dr. Melody Randle, academic chair of WilmU’s Master of Science in Nursing/Nurse Practitioner program, is wife to Dr. Troy Randle and mother to Christopher. And to round out this WilmU family, her daughter, Mikayla Perez, a cardiac ICU nurse in the Virtua Health Care System, is currently completing her bachelor of science degree in nursing at WilmU and will graduate in January 2023.
