Penn State Brandywine is one of 19 Penn State Commonwealth Campuses across the state. The Brandywine campus is located on 112 acres at 25 Yearsley Mill Road in Media.  It offers four-year baccalaureate degree programs in 14 fields of study and two associate degree programs.

The following positions in the Penn State system and at Penn State Brandywine are available:

Head Cross Country Coach

The Head Cross Country Coach, a part-time position, will manage all operations for the men’s and women’s program, including but not limited to:

  • Recruiting quality student-athletes, scheduling and coaching practices, scheduling home and away competitions;
  • Monitoring annual operational and recruiting budgets;
  • Ensuring institutional, PSUAC, and USCAA obligations are met as head coach;
  • Selecting, training, and supervising assistant coaches; and
  • Recruiting quality student-athletes.

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:

• PA State Police Criminal Background Check

• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form

• FBI Criminal Background Check.

Additionally, the position may require that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to background checks mentioned above.

Perferred applicants should have a minimum of 3 years coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Associate Dean for Commonwealth Campus Libraries

Penn State University Libraries has reimagined and realigned its organizational leadership approach.

An Associate Dean for Commonwealth Campus Libraries (CCLs) is sought to join a newly recalibrated leadership team.

This AD will collaborate to set the vision and strategic directions for Penn State University Libraries.

This Associate Dean develops and guides the strategic direction of the 20 Commonwealth Campus Libraries aligned within University Libraries.

This position may be based at the University Park campus, or at one of Penn State’s Commonwealth campuses. There are opportunities for hybrid work arrangements but travel to University Park and Commonwealth campuses are expected, including some overnight travel for in-person meetings.

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure the development of sustainable library services, spaces, and staffing that support the diverse communities served by the Commonwealth Campus Libraries.
  • Prioritize the alignment of student engagement and learning outcomes as a part of the Libraries’ overall instructional and outreach programs.
  • Work collaboratively to provide vision and direction for the research, teaching, and service mission of the Libraries. 
  • Help to implement the Libraries’ strategic plan, support institutional goals and build a strong culture of engagement and shared decision-making. 
  • Participate in the Libraries’ key planning, budget, operations, and personnel decision-making activities.
  • Represent the Libraries with donor relations and fundraising with leadership and development teams within the libraries.
  •  Participate in University initiatives and represent the Libraries in University-wide planning and administration (may represent the libraries in local, regional, and national arenas).  
  • Advance the Libraries and Penn State’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals
  • Improve efforts to recruit and retain a diverse community of library employees, and
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of the CCLs to advance student learning, faculty productivity, and community engagement.
  • Foster collaborations at all Penn State campuses, both within and external to the Libraries, to design and implement services and programs that support evolving user needs that lead to student and faculty success.
  • Create and sustain productive, meaningful relationships with Chancellors and Directors of Academic Affairs and collaborates to develop and improve library services and spaces.
  • Work with CCL faculty and staff to identify and anticipate the needs of user communities that result in the design, implementation, and assessment of services and programs.
  • Supervise and mentor the Senior Director and five head librarians. Supports and facilitates professional development for all CCL librarians and staff.
  • Support the promotion and tenure process for CCL faculty and serves a critical role in the Libraries’ strong mentoring program. 

Candidates for this position must have a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent) with qualifications commensurate with tenure requirements at Penn State.

The successful candidate will hold a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Librarian or Librarian within the University Libraries.

Strategic Communication Specialist

The Strategic Communications Specialist supports and manages activities to increase awareness of Penn State Brandywine’s programs and achievements and will work with faculty, staff, students, and vendors to complete projects.

An appreciation for and dedication to working with diverse audiences is a must as this position supports and manages communications with key internal and external stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and the community at large.

The Specialist will create content for the campus website, news releases, social media, electronic newsletters and other communications vehicles; take photographs; and create videos.

The Specialist will attend and support various campus events and may serve on campus committees. The Specialist will also assist with management of the campus website, monitoring and reporting analytics for various platforms, and creating marketing and communications materials.

The successful candidate will be an excellent writer, editor, researcher and interviewer who can develop strong working relationships across the campus. The ability to meet deadlines, produce accurate work and manage multiple projects is essential. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level two. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or related field preferred. Previous experience with photography; video creation and editing; and the Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
