Crozer Health has temporarily reversed its decision to close the mental health services and behavioral health units at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital in June, writes Kenny Cooper for WHYY.

That decision came after Delaware County filed a preliminary injunction Wednesday against Crozer Health and its parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings, asking the court to stop the closures.

Crozer Health says it will keep the services open in good faith while it continues negotiations with the county over the fees for those services, according to State Rep. Mike Zabel.

The county has been looking for alternative providers of the services Prospect-Crozer has threatened to end, reads a statement from the county.

Crozer CEO Kevin Spiegel told employees the mental health services would not immediately close in June as first planned, and that he was “hopeful” after meeting with county leadership that they would offer funding to the health system, according to Peggy Malone, president of the Crozer-Chester Nurses Association.

“And he said that Crozer was doing well,” said Malone. “Still losing money, however, but improving every day, and growing as an organization.”
