Four Delaware County communities are going to get some infrastructure upgrades to their walkways, roads, and bicycle paths, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.

PennDOT is funding 64 projects statewide.  Forty-three are funded through the national infrastructure law.

Chadds Ford will get $1 million for pedestrian crossings and intersection improvements along Route 1. A multi-use trail parallel to Route 1.

Nether Providence will get $1 million to install a quarter-mile sidewalk along Providence Road from Mother of Providence School to East Rose Valley Road.

Upper Darby: will use $1.3 million for roadway and sidewalk improvements along Garrett Road, including ADA curb ramps, bicycle lanes and roadway restriping for multimodal and pedestrian use.

“This project has three positive aspects in that it will improve local roadways, increase safety and promote mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists,” said State Rep. Michael Zabel  (D-163rd District)

Yeadon Borough can use $1 million for West Cobbs Creek Parkway landing strips, as well as improving water quality and providing traffic calming and ADA-compliant curb cut ramps and crosswalk striping.

A traffic signal will be redesigned and a bump-out installed at the West Cobbs and MacDade parkways intersection to improve pedestrian safety.
