Restore marijuana dispensary at 735 Church Lane in Yeadon opened with Yeadon Borough Zoning Hearing Board permission, but the board has now reversed that decision, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

Restore Integrative Wellness Center operates seven days a week providing medical marijuana in-store and at a drive-thru window.

Borough Council President Sharon Council-Harris and the Concerned Residents of Yeadon challenged the board’s initial approval Jan. 19.

On Feb. 17, the zoning hearing board ruled that  “Restore is precluded from being located in the NC Neighborhood Commercial District.”

The District limits retail stores to 2,500 square feet and allows business offices, agencies and studios that serve the immediate neighborhood.

Restore is in a 3,000 square-foot former bank and serves people beyond the immediate community.

It is more akin to a pharmacy, testified Edward A. Theurkauf of Theurkauf Design & Planning on behalf of Council-Harris and the Concerned Residents of Yeadon.

“For some reason when the application was made for the dispensary, it was approved as an office,” said attorney Carl Ewald, representing the residents. “It was clear that it was not an office.”

Restore does have the option to appeal the reversed decision.
