A developer is considering a four-story rental complex, a 54-foot building dubbed “Waynewood” on a lot next to Waynewood Ave. behind Wayne Presbyterian Church, writes Caroline O’Halloran for Savvy Main Line

The developer, Radnor Property Group, has talked informally with Radnor Township officials but has not submitted formal land-development plans.

The lot’s owner is Wayne Presbyterian Church, which receives less than $40,000 a year in parking revenue from the lot.

“It’s a very valuable real estate parcel,” writes Doug McBreartym chairman of the church’s administration committee, in a letter to church members about the building.  “Some may consider a parking lot not the highest and best use of the  property.”

It’s also a “stormwater liability” to the church.

Radnor Commissioner Jack Larkin pointed out the advantages to local businesses of having an apartment,

“Adding 54 dwelling units will have a significant and positive impact on businesses in Wayne at a time when they could use the help,” Larkin wrote.

There are resident concerns about overburdened roads, schools and first-responders if the apartments are built, as well as how it would fit in with the look of surrounding buildings.
