These Delaware County Stocks Are Among Best Performing in Region for 2021

Last year was good for publicly traded companies in the Philadelphia region, with 60 percent of them recording stock price gains in 2021. Here are the best-performing stocks, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Philadelphia Business Journal looked at 118 publicly traded companies in the area to determine which ones were the biggest winners. It found that out of the 20 best-performing stocks in the last year, two of them are in Delaware County.

Annovis Bio in Radnor ranked highest coming in second place. The biotechnology company that develops drugs for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease recorded a growth rate of 134 percent in 2021. The company’s stock price increased from $7.76 on January 4 to $18.15 on December 31.

Meanwhile, Avantor Inc. also found its place on the list in No. 18. The Radnor-based company saw its stock price increase by 48 percent last year, going from $28.30 to $41.96 in 2021.

Overall, the stock market saw ups and downs last year. Investors reacted, anticipated, and navigated the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In that same time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, rose nearly 19% while the S&P 500 posted a gain of 27%.
