The Foundation for Delaware County, headquartered in Media, announces an $8,000 grant received from Ride Hard Breathe Easy will help meet the urgent financial needs of patients receiving lung cancer care at the Crozer-Keystone Health System.

The funds can be used to help patients pay for rides to appointments or to pay utility bills, for food, wigs, and more.

“Ride Hard Breathe Easy has granted us the ability to help ease the financial burden that looms over many patients and families facing lung cancer. Thanks to their support, we can assist patients with their immediate needs and help develop long-term solutions for financial stability,” says Marie DeStefano, Senior Administrative Director of Oncology,

Crozer-Keystone Health System is the latest in a string of partnerships Ride Hard Breathe Easy has developed. They join Temple University, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Duke Cancer Center, Einstein Medical Center, and Lung Health Services.

Ride Hard Breathe Easy CEO John Matthews founded the nonprofit in memory of his mom, Kathleen, who died of lung cancer in 2011. Since that time, they have raised nearly $600K.

John added, “we have supported 500 lung care patients since we started. There is such a need to provide financial resources for patients confronting the number one cancer killer in the world. Our ability to support lung cancer patients literally makes them cry.”
