‘Mare of Eastown’s Back Again, at Least at The Critics Choice Awards
Mare of Easttown, and Delaware County, continue to live on in the national spotlight, this time thanks to the 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards, writes Michael Schneider for Variety.
‘Mare’ has been nominated for best limited series, though it will move out of that category if it returns for a second season.
The HBO limited series goes up against “Dopesick” (Hulu); “Dr. Death (Peacock); “It’s a Sin” (HBO Max); “Maid” (Netflix); “Midnight Mass”(Netflix); “The Underground Railroad”(Amazon Prime Video) and “Wandavision”(Disney Plus)
The HBO smash hit has five nominations in total.
Besides the best-limited series, ‘Mare’ star Kate Winslet was nominated as best actress. Evan Peters, Julianne Nicholson, and Jean Smart received best-supporting nominations. Smart was also nominated for her work in “Hacks.”
HBO led in nominations overall with 20, ahead of Netflix, which scored 18.
“Although the industry is still recovering from the COVID-19 lockdown, you wouldn’t know it from the wealth of amazing television programs our nomination committees pored through to come up with this year’s nominees,” said Critics Choice Association TV Branch president Ed Martin. “We have even more choices than we did before the pandemic, for critics and viewers to embrace.
