Eagles Work With Boys School to Set Up Warehouse Space in Sharon Hill

Philadelphia Eagles players joined up with members of the Boys Latin Charter School football team in Sharon Hill Tuesday to create a new warehouse space, writes Dawn Timmeney for Fox 29.

The new space will store gently-used sports equipment the charter school football team needs. The equipment comes from the nonprofit Leveling the Playing Field out of Washington, D.C.

“For a lot of kids in Philly, they are not able to access youth sports activities simply because the cost of the gear is too high. So what LPF does, they come in and collect gently used gear,” Kaitlin Brennan, director of Leveling the Playing Field, said.

The Eagles are partnering with the non-profit as it expands its program from Washington to Philadelphia.

“This is awesome, getting out to the community to give back, you know help these kids,” Eagles tight end Tyree Jackson said.

Boys Latin freshmen Tyrig Armstong and Malachi Williams were excited to work side-by-side with NFL players, putting together shelving and crates.

It’s important that everyone have an opportunity to play the game they love, the boys added.
