Former professional ballerina Deborah “Deb” Zdobinski of Wallingford has brought Gyrotonic exercise to Delaware County through her Media business, Body Align Studio, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

Zdobinski discovered Gyrotonic exercise following two total hip replacements.

The method is practiced in 80 countries worldwide and has gained a faithful following.

The Gyrotonic method helped Zdobinski regain a full range of motion, balance, and flexibility. It’s also kept her as fit as she was decades earlier.

She was eager to share the one-on-one method with others through her studio.

“It’s exciting to introduce a totally new exercise modality to the local community,” Zdobinski said.

The studio joins a global community o 12,000 Gyrotonic trainers.

“When I opened my studio a few months ago, no one in the area had ever heard of Gyrotonic exercise,” Zdobinski said. “But everyone who’s tried it has really liked it and say they feel great afterward,” Zdibubsju saud,

The Gyrotonic Method incorporates full-body movement from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming, and tai chi.

Using special equipment, the exercises create spiraling, circular movements that flow together in rhythmic repetitions,  with corresponding breath patterns.
