Delco Ranks Among Counties with Most College Graduates in Pennsylvania

Delaware County is one of the counties with the most college graduates in Pennsylvania, according to a recently released ranking by Stacker.

Stacker compiled the list using U.S. Census Bureau data. Counties are ranked based on the highest percent of the population aged 25 years and over that has a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Delaware County ranked sixth with 39 percent of the population aged 25 years and over holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Its neighboring counties–Montgomery, Chester and Bucks, had even higher numbers of college graduates.

In Delaware County, 16.7 percent of the population has a graduate or professional degree, which has median earnings of $82,313.

The share of the population with a Bachelor’s degree ($59,205 median earnings) is at 22.4 percent, while 23.9 percent of residents have some college or an Associate’s degree ($41,833 median earnings.)

Meanwhile, 30.2 percent are high school graduates with median earnings of $34,415.

Finally, the county has just 6.9 percent of residents who have less than a high school diploma. Their median earnings are $25,965.

All of Philadelphia’s collar counties ranked in the top ten. Chester County came in first, Montgomery County ranked second, and Bucks County placed fifth.
