It may not seem like it, but we are heading into fall so local breweries have been busy creating seasonal fall beer that is a natural for Oktoberfest and the fall season, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Light, fruity beers from summer are traded now for a heavier, darker fall beer to match the brisk nights.

There is an abundance of pumpkin-flavored ales and other stout beers with seasonal flavors.

2SP in Aston is offering two fall beers this year.

It launched Delco Fest  to tie into their DelcoFest event which took place Sept. 18.

The lager has notes of bread, nuts and caramel.

2SP brought back DelcoFest this year, their own local version of an Oktoberfest-themed beer festival .

According to the 2SP website, the DelcoFest had food trucks, games, a photo booth, Beer Fest Pretzel necklaces benefitting The Delco Group, a pie-eating contest and live music from a Philly German Brass band.

A limited number of 2SP DelcoFest steins were also sold.

2SP also brews a pumpkin flavored imperial brown ale.

The ale uses vanilla beans from Madagascar, mixed with various spices. The result is a “big, sweet and rich” pumpkin beer.
