Kristin Haines and her husband Timothy Stevens needed just enough space to blend their two families.

What they found was perfect, a three-bedroom modern farmhouse-style home in the Lister neighborhood of Newtown Square, writes Terri Akman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“This was the perfect amount of space and would allow us to travel and do other things and not get tied down with home responsibility,” said Kristin Haines, a human resources manager.

Stevens, a lawyer, was attracted to the community and the property location.

“It’s high up on the ridge, and we have an expansive deck off the back,” he said. “We have beautiful sunshine all day with beautiful sunsets every evening.”

They added a sun room with high ceilings for Haines’ office.

The couple likes the blend of contemporary design and a warm, farmhouse feel.

The fieldstone exterior and rustic floors remind Haines of her childhood Chestnut Hill neighborhood, but there’s modern stainless appliance, granite countertops and contemporary lighting inside.

“There are a lot of farms around here with fresh produce and farm-to-table food, so you’ve got one foot out in the country, too, which is nice,” Haines said. “It’s quiet and peaceful.”
