The Springfield community is rallying around a 9-year-old girl who was struck by a car in 2019 while getting off a school bus, reports Natasha Borwn for Philadelphia.cbslocal.com.

A busy crowd at a lemonade stand demonstrated that support.

Jayzlyn Yaboah suffered extensive injuries following the accident.

“The doctors told us she wasn’t going to survive. She was able to survive. They said she was going to be a vegetable for the rest of her life,” father Dickson Yaboah said.

Jayzlyn is paralyzed on her left side and her speech impaired , but she’s not giving up.

 “She keeps on telling us every day that she is going to beat whatever is happening to her,” Dickson Yaboah said.

The lemonade stand is a fundraising idea of Jayzlyn and her friend to help pay for the care she needs.

“They still need money. Unfortunately, an injury like this is gonna cost them thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars over who knows how many years,” Marissa Phillips said.

One by one, community members showed up. Each cup of lemonade sold was another sign of support  toward Jayzlyn’s recovery.

“Thank you citizens of Springfield for donating money so that I could survive,” Jayzlyn said.
