Addressing the needs of future professionals in the field of business as it relates to sports, Immaculata University is offering a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Business Management beginning this fall. The program, offered on the campus of Immaculata, combines a traditional business management degree with a traditional sport management degree.

The new major will leverage many of the business, economics, accounting, strategy, and marketing courses offered in Immaculata’s established business programs, while providing major-specific curriculum on events, marketing, administration, management, strategic planning, and ethical issues related to the business of sports.

Students also complete an internship in a specific area of this professional field. The internship provides an in-depth analysis of practical field experience to prepare students for career choices.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, professions within the realm of sport management are expected to increase at a rate of 10-15 percent between by the end of the decade.

“The new sports management program will prepare students to enter the multibillion-dollar sports industry. Students will combine their passion for sports with the required skills to be successful in the dynamic sports industry,” said Dr. Angela Tekely, vice president for academic affairs and provost.
