Hop Aboard! Montgomery County Has One of the Best Scenic Train Rides in the Nation

By

While the nation is filled with gorgeous vistas that can be best enjoyed while traveling by train, some routes stand out in the stunning landscapes they offer. One of them has the best scenic train rides right here in Montgomery County, according to a new ranking by USA Today.

The railroads featured on the list were hand-picked by a panel of travel experts and then voted on by the publication’s readers to select the best scenic train rides in the country.

The Colebrookdale Railroad, which is also known as the Secret Valley Line, ranked near the very top at third place.

The line operates between Pottstown and Boyertown in Berks County. Passengers riding on the Colebrookdale Railroad can enjoy a 2-hour journey into Secret Valley while seated aboard a restored century-old railcar.

In addition, the train has both an open car that provides a near 360-degree view of the stunning passing scenery and a first-class parlor car, named Storm King.

Here passengers can get drinks and snacks while relaxing to the sounds of live piano music.
