Delaware County pet owners who pamper their four-legged friends won’t have to go very far to find one of the best pet shops in the Philadelphia region, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Braxton’s Animal Works in Wayne is a mainstay in the local pet community. Three generations have been operating this family business for 75 years.

It features products for dogs, cats, other small animals, and wild birds.

The store stocks everything from food and treats to accessories and supplies.

You can also find plenty of self-service dog wash baths that do not require an appointment. It’s the perfect place to visit when Fido decides it is a good day for a roll in the mud.

And if you do not feel like leaving your home for a shopping trip, the store also offers scheduled local delivery.

For those who prefer to pamper their plants, the Garden Shoppe is right next door.

In all, Americans spent $103.6 billion on their pets in 2020. And there are a lot of them to buy for. In Philadelphia alone, there are roughly 350,000 dogs and an uncountable number of cats.
