Four COVID-19 Deaths in Delaware County But Only 6 Positive Cases Since Thursday

Four new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Friday, May 14, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,424 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

One fatality was from Concord, 1 from Upper Chichester, 1 from Collingdale and 1 from Tinicium.

Of those, 835 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

The Chester County Department of Health site only listed six new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County between Thursday and Friday. Total cases are 47,909.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 733, affecting 11.29 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,118 cases reported, or 8.58 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 240,927 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.18 percent recovery rate.

  • 70 to 79: 2,740 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,643 cases

The state is reporting 27 COVID-19 deaths for Friday, May 14. Total COVID-19 deaths are at 26,724.
