Delaware County New COVID-19 Cases Breach 100 for Friday, May 28

No new COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County have been reported Friday, May 28, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,444 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 838 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

The Chester County Department of Health site reported 117 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County for Friday, May 29. Total cases are 49,008.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 742, affecting 11.42 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,283 cases reported, or 8.78 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 246,602 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 94.29 percent recovery rate.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, May 28, there were 1,007 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 1,200,543.

The state is reporting 24 COVID-19 deaths for Thursday, May 27. Total deaths are 27,187.
