378 Positive Cases of COVID-19 Reported Over 3 Days in Delaware County

One new COVID-19-related death from Upper Darby was reported for Friday, May 21, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,432 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 838 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

The Chester County Department of Health site reported 378 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County between Wednesday, May 19 and Friday, May 21. Total cases are 48,509.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 734, affecting 11.30 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,222 cases reported, or 8.70 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 243,913 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 93.01 percent recovery rate.

  • 20 to 29: 8,131 cases
  • 30 to 39: 7186 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, May 21, there were 3,253 new cases of COVID-19 statewide between Wednesday, May 19 and  Friday, May 21. Total cases now number 1,193,355.

The state is reporting 65 COVID-19 deaths between Wednesday, May 19 and Friday, May 21. Total COVID-19 deaths are 26,990.
