William Penn, Southeast Delco Looking to Vaccinate High School Students

By

The William Penn and Southeast Delco school districts are providing a Pfizer vaccine clinic to vaccinate high school students age 16 and older next month, reports Jennifer Joyce for fox29.com.

“I can’t wait to see students hanging out, just hanging out in hallways, after school, before school, in the lunchroom, just having fun with their classmates,” said Penn Wood High teacher and boys basketball coach Matt Lindeman.

One mom said she’s all for it.

“Socialization. Regular life. They’re isolated. Just get back to regular living, whatever that will be moving forward,” she said.

But not every parent agrees with teen vaccinations.

“We don’t have complete results for this yet and we’re ready to give it to children?” remarked Anthony Thomas.

“My daughter is terrified of shots, so having her sit down and get an injection or shot, it’s gonna be like pulling teeth,” Marlene Boylan commented.

Vaccines aren’t required in the district but they will offer students incentives encouraging them to sign up, said William Penn School Superintendent Dr. Eric Becoats.

“We are going do everything in our effort or in our capacity to make sure students are vaccinated,” Dr. Coates stated.
