New COVID-19 Cases Picked Up Friday, With 178, But Stayed Below 200 in Delaware County
No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Friday, April 23, according to the Chester County Health Department.
As of Friday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,371 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.
Of those, 826 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.
COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department also reported there have been 178 new positive cases of COVID-19 for Friday, April 23. Total cases, as of April 23, are 45,942.
Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 724, affecting 11.15 percent of its 6,492 population.
Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,798 cases reported, or 8.19 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county has had 230,793 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 87.46 percent recovery rate.
Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, April 22, are:
- Under 10: 2,177 cases
- 10 to 19: 5,389 cases
- 20 to 29: 7,695 cases
- 30 to 39: 6,776 cases
- 40 to 49: 6.216 cases
- 50 to 59: 7,012 cases
- 60 to 69: 5,381 cases
- 70 to 79: 2,677 cases
- 80 and over: 2,614 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 23, there were 4,188 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,126,850
The state is reporting 59 additional COVID-19 deaths for April 23. The statewide death toll is 25,938
