Five More COVID-19 Deaths and 163 Cases Reported in Delaware County for Wednesday

Five COVID-19-related death were reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, April 14, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Deaths were reported from Upper Darby, Radnor, Springfield, Brookhaven, and Collingdale.

As of Wednesday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,362 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 825 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department also reported there have been 163 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported Wednesday, April 14 since the previous day. Total cases, as of April 14, are 44,256.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 708, affecting 10.9 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,544 cases reported, or 7.89 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 936 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 225,791 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 88.41percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, April 14, are:

  • Under 10: 2,003 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,037 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,489 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,480 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.007 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,792 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,261 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,633 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,599 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 14, there were 5,730 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,087792.

The state is reporting 50 additional COVID-19 deaths for April 14. The statewide death toll is 25,522.
