Delaware County’s New COVID-19 Daily Cases Are Hovering in the 90s

The number of new cases of COVID-19 reported daily in the last week is staying below 100 each day, but just barely, with new cases reported in the mid to upper-90s.

On Thursday, March 4, there were 98 new cases reported.

Two COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County on Thursday, March 4, from the Chester County Health Department.

Deaths were reported from:

1 from Upper Darby

1 from Darby Borough

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,290 fatalities in Delaware County.

Of those, 801 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Total cases countywide are now38,388.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of the population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,091, or 9.49 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,761 cases reported, or 6.94 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 827 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 207,191 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.09 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, March 4, are:

  • Under 10: 1,528 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,989 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,448 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,612 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,221 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,982 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,695 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,431 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,479 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 4, that there were 3,028 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 941,439.

There were 50 additional COVID-19 deaths reported Thursday, March 4 for a new total of 24,219.
