Delaware County Added 315 New COVID-19 Cases Between Friday and Monday

Four  additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Monday, March 1.

1 was from Middletown

1 was from Marple

1 was from Springfield

1 was from Darby Township

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,276 deaths for the county.

Of those, 802 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported March 1:

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 315 new COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Monday, March 1, since cases were last reported Friday, Feb. 26. Total cases are 38,120.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,084, or 9.4 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,723 cases reported, or 6.9 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 824 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 205,910 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.05 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, March 1, are:

  • Under 10: 1,514 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,946 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,413 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,591 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,177 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,930 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,668 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,412 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,466 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 1, that there were 6,934 new cases of COVID-19 statewide since cases were last reported Friday, Feb. 26. Total cases are now 933,270.

 There were 89 additional COVID-19 deaths reported Monday, March 1 for a new total of 24,026.
