New COVID-19 Cases Tick Up Above 100 for Wednesday. 9 New Deaths Reported

Nine deaths were added to Delaware County’s COVID-19 statistics for Wednesday, Feb. 24.

New deaths were reported from:

3 in Edgmont

1 in Concord

1 in Radnor

1 in Darby Township

1 in Brookhaven

1 in Norwood

1 in Trainer

The Chester County Health Department is now reporting a total of 1,270 deaths for the county.

Of those, 799 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported Feb. 24:

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 159 new COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday, Feb. 24, in Delaware County. Total cases now stand at 37,468.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,073, or 9.33 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,612 cases reported, or 6.76 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 810 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 203,496 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 89.74 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, Feb. 24, are:

  • Under 10: 1,474 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,846 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,309 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,492 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,091 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,844 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,603 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,374 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,432 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 24 that there were 2,786 new COVID-19 cases statewide. Total cases are now at 920,634.

 There were 76 additional COVID-19 deaths reported for a new total of 23787.
