Young Entrepreneur in Prospect Park Does Some Food Network Baking

By

The owner of Blessed Baker in Prospect Park turns out a pretty good pound cake in between cheerleading and gymnastics, playing piano, and going to school.

Not bad for an 11-year-old, reports Alicia Vitarelli for 6abc.com.

Now sixth-grader Cydney Cain is demonstrating her baking talents, and representing Delaware County,  on the latest season of the Food Network’s Kids Baking Championship.

The show inspired Cydney to start baking. Her grandmother inspired her to start her own business, Blessed Baker.

“I started baking when I was 6 because it looked super cool and it just looked so fun,” Cydney says. “My family always called me blessed because I could bake at such a young age.”

Her first baked-from-scratch creation was vanilla pound cake, something she learned watching Kids Baking Championship.

Her extremely proud mom Tynise says Cydney is not just an amazing baker, but an amazing human being.

Cydney says she’s grown a lot as she’s developed her baking skills.

“I learned that I’m better than I thought at baking,” she says. “I didn’t always have the best confidence, but this gave me a boost of confidence.”
