Updated COVID-19 Records for Jan. 6 in Delaware County Adds 16 More Deaths to Fatalities

Delaware County’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1,016 as the new positive case total for Jan. 6 is 250 above the previous day’s positive case count.

The number of cases is now reported at 29,849, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department reported 29,599 positive cases on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Deaths were reported from Middletown, Haverford, Chester, Concord, Radnor, Springfield, Ridley, Bethel, Upper Providence, East Lansdowne, Folcroft, Upland, with 2 from Upper Darby and 2 from Aston.

Of those, 691were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 43 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 948, or 8.26 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 4,570 cases reported, or 5.5 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 653 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 180,151 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 76.79 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, Jan.6 are:

  • Under 10: 1,010 cases
  • 10 to 19: 2,865 cases
  • 20 to 29: 5,136 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 4,391 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,094 cases
  • 50 to 59: 4,726 cases
  • 60 to 69: 3,676 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,897 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,051 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan.6, that there were 9,474 additional cases of COVID-19 reported statewide, with total cases at 683,389.

There were 428 deaths reported, for a total of 16,914.
