New COVID-19 Cases Drop Below 200 in Delaware County for Wednesday, With No New Deaths

There were 152 new positive COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday in Delaware County by the Chester County Health Department.

That brings the total number of cases to date to 34,273.

No additional COVID-19 deaths were recorded for Wednesday, with the county total remaining at 1,086.   

Of total deaths reported, 721were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,016, or 8.83 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,189 cases reported, or 6.25 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 748 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 192,316 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 82.44 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, Jan.27 are:

  • Under 10: 1,276 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,373 cases
  • 20 to 29: 5,816 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,058 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,683 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,350 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,247 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,180 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,287 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan.27 that there were 5,874 additional cases of COVID-19 reported, for a new total of 818,369.

 There were 222 additional deaths for a new total of 21,105.
