Delaware County Positive Cases of COVID-19 Jump by 219 for Thursday

Delaware County added 219 new positive cases of COVID-19 Thursday to the total number of cases reported in the county, according to statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The health department reported 31,361 positive cases Wednesday and 31,839 positive cases Thursday.

No new COVID-10-realted deaths were reported, keeping the total at 1,049.

Of the 1,049 deaths reported to date, 705 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 966, or 8.34 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 4,838 cases reported, or 5.83 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 704 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 184,992 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 79.81 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, Jan.14 are:

  • Under 10: 1,128 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,111 cases
  • 20 to 29: 5,472 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 4,691 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,338 cases
  • 50 to 59: 4,987 cases
  • 60 to 69: 3,926 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,021 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,162 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan.14, that there were 7,175 additional cases of COVID-19 reported, for a new total of 748,564.

 There were 313 additional deaths for a new total of 18,742.
