57 People Test Positive for COVID-19 Over the Weekend, 1 COVID-19 Death Reported

One COVID-19 death has been reported in Delaware County since Friday, Jan. 8, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The fatality is from Nether Providence.

There were 57 people that tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. Total number of reported cases as of Monday, Jan. 11, is 31,108, according to the health department.

The county’s total number of COVID fatalities is now 1,024.  Of those, 694 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 43 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 958, or 8.33 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 4,741 cases reported, or 5.7 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 684 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 183,081 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 79 percent recovery rate.

  • 20 to 29: 5,354 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 4,586 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,245 cases

  • 70 to 79: 1,988 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,115 cases
