3 More Delaware County Residents Lose Life to COVID-19, Cases at 33,921

Three more Delaware County residents have died from complications of COVID-19, according to the Chester County Health Department for a new total of 1,079 as of Monday, Jan. 25.

Fatalities were reported from Ridley, Upper Chichester and Darby Township.

Of total deaths reported, 719 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

The health department is reporting a total of 33,921 positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County as of Monday, Jan. 25.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,005, or 8.74 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,148 cases reported, or 6.2 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 746 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 191,443 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 81.84 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, Jan.5 are:

  • Under 10: 1,259 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,344 cases
  • 20 to 29: 5,774 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,002 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,620 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,299 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,199 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,153 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,268 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan.25 that there were 3,934 additional cases of COVID-19 reported, for a new total of 807,867/

 There were 343 additional deaths for a new total of 20,321.
