These ZIP Codes in Delaware County Had Biggest Increases in COVID-19 Cases Over Last Seven Days

Cases of COVID-19 continue to increase rapidly across the nation and the state, with some areas of Delaware County affected more than others, write Sean Adams and Megan Lavey-Heaton for the Penn Live Patriot-News.

The latest numbers compiled by Pennsylvania Department of Health show that the rates of COVID-19 infection in each ZIP Code statewide for the seven days ending Dec. 16 compared to infection rates for the seven days prior.

The highest percentage increase in Delaware County during that period was recorded in ZIP Code 19317 (Chadds Ford) and ZIP Code 19061 (Boothwyn/Marcus Hook) at 14 percent each. The number of confirmed cases grew from 204 to 233 in the former and from 548 to 623 in the latter.

In ZIP Code 19026 (Drexel Hill,) the number of cases went up from 1,223 to 1,378, or 13 percent. Meanwhile, ZIP code 19014 (Aston/Upper Chichester) also recorded an increase in cases of 13 percent, going from 610 to 689.

Finally, ZIP Code 19029 (Tinicum) saw the number of confirmed cases rise from 135 to 153, or 13 percent.
