17 COVID Deaths Reported Thursday in Delaware County as Total Positive Cases Top 25,000.

The Chester County Health Department reported there are 915 people in Delaware County who have died form COVID-19, with 17 more added to the fatality list on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Total number of positive COVID cases reported in the county is 25,045. On Wednesday, that number was 24,814, an increase of 231.

Three fatalities were from Concord, three from Upper Chichester, two were from Middletown, two were from Chester, one was from Marple, one from Darby Borough, one from Radnor, one from Bethel, one from Aston, one from Glenolden, and one from Sharon Hill.

Of the reported deaths, 656 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 42 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 870, or 7.58 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 3,933 cases reported, or 4.73 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 553 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 169,306 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 69.74 percent recovery rate.

  • 10 to 19: 2,406 cases
  • 20 to 29: 4,452 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 3,685 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 3,450 cases
  • 50 to 59: 3,906 cases
  • 60 to 69: 3,004 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,577 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,766 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Dec. 17, that there were 9,966 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, with the total number of cases now at 529,335.

There were 224 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, with total deaths for Thursday, Dec. 17, reported at 13,392.
