Delaware County Saw a One-Day 316 Jump in Total COVID-19 Cases Reported Thursday

There were 17,500 COVID-19 cases reported in Delaware County on Thursday, Nov. 19, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The day before, the health department reported 17,184 cases for the county.

But even as caseloads went up, no additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported Thursday, with death totals remaining at 836.

Of those, 633 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of the population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 685, or 5.97 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 2,716 cases reported, or 3.27 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county has had 148,754 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 69.88 percent recovery rate.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Nov. 19, that there were 7,126 new cases of COVID-19 across the state, bringing the statewide total to 288,978.

There were 116 new deaths reported statewide for  Thursday, Nov. 19, with total deaths listed at 9,581.
