James May, a Ridley tailor and costume maker, has been turning out thousands of free face masks to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Now he’s focusing on masks he hopes will appeal to teens and children so they can be protected, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

He’s aiming for their team spirit, using material imprinted with their favorite sports team logos. There’s Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and 76ers for local spirit as well as the Cowboys, Bears and other patterns.

The masks are lightweight and comfortable to wear.

May noticed many young people were still gathering in large groups so he’s encouraging them to wear masks.

The work is done at his business, James May Costume Co., 450 MacDade Blvd., assisted by his wife.

“It doesn’t matter who needs a mask,” May said. “I will try to accommodate them if they genuinely need it. If it curbs the spread of this virus, it will be a help to everyone in the long run. I cannot stress enough—wearing masks saves lives.”

Those needing protective masks can call him at 610-532-3430 and make arrangements for a contact-less pick-up.
