45 New COVID-19 Cases Reported for Delaware County, 7 More Deaths Reported

There were 45 additional cases of COVID-19 reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, Aug. 19, by the Chester County Health Department, bringing the total number of cases to 9,867.

Seven additional COVID-19-related deaths have been reported, with the total number now at 766.

Of those, 599 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have now been reported in 39 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 499 cases, affecting 4.35 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,566, affecting 1.89 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 301 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 76,937  people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 76.62 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups as of Aug. 19 are:

  • Under 10: 6 cases
  • 10 to 19: 589 cases (up 3)
  • 20 to 29: 1,600 cases
  • 30 to 39: 1,400 cases
  • 40 to 49: 1,300 cases
  • 50 to 59: 1,500 cases
  • 60 to 69: 1,300 cases
  • 70 to 79: 787 cases (up 2)
  • 80 and over: 1,200 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Aug. 19, that there were 570 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since Tuesday, Aug. 18, bringing the statewide total to 126,149.

There were 24 new COVID-19 related deaths reported, with the total now at 7,52345 New.
