Music came early to Newtown Square native Jared Feinman who began learning classical piano when he was 6, reports Main Line Today.

That led to jazz piano but he detoured in college to pursue a business degree, coming up five credits short at University of Richmond.

So instead he developed as a songwriter and performer at Berklee School of Music in Boston.

Today, he’s releasing a series of singles promoting his jazz and pop sound.

“My background in jazz informs the way I approach music and the natural decisions I make. For my grandmother and her friends, it reminds them of the ’40s. People my age think more of Sam Smith, Billy Joel or Elton John,” he said.

Feinman was a winner of Main Line Today’s 2020 Best of the Main Line and Western Suburbs Awards.

He has recorded a special vinyl version of his single “(Let’s Sing for) Love and Be Free.” He’s donating proceeds from the ballad to Philly Music Fest’s micro-grant initiative in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

“It comes out of the tumultuous times we’ve experienced in our country in recent years. It sort of feels right. We’ll see where it lands.”
