1 COVID-19-Related Death Reported in Swarthmore; 37 of 48 Delaware County Municipalities Report Fatalities

As of Tuesday, July 7, there have been 36 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Delaware County.

There were two additional COVID-19 related deaths reported.

That brings the total number of positive cases in the county to 7,429, with the number of COVID-19 related deaths at 704.

Of those, 564 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 deaths are now reported in 37 of the county’s 48 municipalities, with Swarthmore reporting one death.

Yeadon Borough has the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 433 cases, affecting 3.77  percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,220, affecting 1.47 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 261 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

The county has had 40,147 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 83.81 percent recovery rate.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, July 7, that there are 995 additional positive cases of COVID-19 since Monday, July 6, bringing the statewide total to 91,299.

There were 26 additional deaths reported with the total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 at 6,787.
