Delaware County Seeing a Drop in New Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

There continued to be a drop in new cases of COVID-19 reported in Delaware County for Friday, May 29.

There were only 39 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. Seven COVID-related deaths were reported, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

County totals now number 544 COVID-19 deaths and 6,428 cases reported.

There are 256 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 387 cases, affecting 3.37 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has topped 1,010 cases, at 1,006, affecting 1.22 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, May 29, that there are 693 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 70,735.

There are 5,464 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 91 new deaths.

The southeast region of the state, which includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of positive confirmed cases in the state, at 45,684.  The next highest number of cases in the state is in the northeast, reporting 13,000 cases.
