Schools and community organizations continue to provide grab and go meals for children, as well as food assistance for those in need during the pandemic.

An interactive map on the Delaware County website will show locations of food pantries and other food assistance programs. Click on the COVID-19 icon, then community resources.

The site also features a map where essential employees can find daycare for their children.

Free online tutoring and other educational materials is also available to help parents of school-age students at home.

For those dealing with mental health issues regarding the pandemic, information is available on the county website about talking to children and teens about their anxiety.

The county also has links to mental health resources for adults, teens and children.

The county website also has links to online recovery support meetings replacing in-person meetings. Click on the COVID-19 button and look for the community icon.

The online meetings are offered four times daily, seven days a week through We Connect and Unity Recovery at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

There is also a link to the county’s mobile crisis unit, available 24 hours, seven days a week, providing assessment, intervention and referral for those having emotional difficulties at this time.

The website also has a link to the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services support and referral help line staffed by case workers 24/7 to counsel people dealing with anxiety from COVID-19 emergencies and refer them to resources.

Volunteering and donating

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for the county’s Medical Reserve Corps and Citizens Corps to help with the current coronavirus crisis. Donations of blood and medical supplies are also greatly needed. Find out more by  clicking here, and clicking on the “How You Can Help” icon.
