Peter Adamo, former CEO and president of Prospect Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut, has been named the new CEO for the Crozer-Keystone Health System, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Adamo is taking the reins from Shariff Omar, who has been CEO since late 2018.

Crozer Keystone and its four hospitals is the largest employer in Delaware County and the largest health care provider, with 6,000 employees and 1,000 physicians.

Prospect Medical, a for-profit hospital management company out of California, acquired Crozer Keystone in July 2016.

Since then, Prospect has committed about $100 million in capital improvements at the four hospitals, including:

  • Infrastructure improvements at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
  • The creation of the Global Neurosciences Institute at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland;
  • The expansion of Springfield Hospital’s inpatient capacity;
  • The expansion of Taylor Hospital’s emergency department.

Adamo served as regional chief executive officer from 2012 to 2017 for Prime HealthCare Services’s Philadelphia area medical centers: Roxborough Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol and Suburban Community Hospital in East Norriton.

He started out as senior management engineer at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia.
