Delaware County residents concerned or curious about new property reassessment notices going out starting this month are invited to two presentations Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.

The presentations by Tyler Technologies will take place in the Council Public Meeting Room, 201 W. Front St. in Media.

Tyler Technologies will talk about the county’s Tax Reassessment Project currently underway, the project’s timeline and how to appeal a new tentative value listed for your property on the notice.

A question and answer session will follow.

Residents can also view a video explaining what to expect during the informal property review part of the tax reassessment. You can view the video here.

You can also access a website dedicated to educating residents and answering questions regarding Delaware County’s Tax Reassessment Project here.

The County is undergoing the tax reassessment process mandated by the courts in 2017.  The court determined that property values across Delaware County have changed since the last reassessment 20 years ago, creating inequities in the value of real estate in the county.

Delaware County Council contracted with Tyler Technologies Inc. in 2017 to provide real property appraisal services for the County’s 2020 general reassessment. The property tax reassessment began in 2017.

The new assessed values will take effect on Jan. 1, 2021.
