How does your garden grow?  Tyler Arboretum in Media is hoping to show you just that and get you excited about growing fruits, vegetables and herbs, reports Vittoria Woodill for CBS 3.

This new edible garden at Tyler will be open to the public by the end of September.  Meanwhile, food already growing in the garden is being donated to the Media Food Bank.

The garden has fruit trees lining the outside. The interior is home to 20 to 30 varieties of herbs, peppers, tomatoes, green beans and more;

The garden was made possible by an arboretum donor, who passed away before seeing the fruits and vegetables of her efforts.

“Lucille Francesco came up with the idea of creating a space where people could learn to appreciate gardening and healthy eating and cooking and two years later we were able to make her dream come true,” said Tyler representative Mandy Santiago.

The hope is to use the new garden classroom and nearby kitchen to host cooking demonstrations and chef competitions, Santiago said.

“We think there’s potential to show people how to grow their food but also how to prepare their food, true farm to table, she said.
