NJCAA Honors 21 Student-Athletes from Harcum College for Their Stellar GPAs

The National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) has recognized 21 student-athletes at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr for earning top-tier GPAs while also playing a varsity sport.

The student-athletes competed in six different sports at Harcum and were honored by the NJCAA in the following categories:

  • Athletes with a 4.00 GPA were named to the All-Academic First Team.
  • Athletes with a 3.80-3.99 GPA were named to the All-Academic Second Team.
  • Athletes with a 3.60-3.79 GPA were named to the All-Academic Third Team.

Jennifer Conn, a women’s soccer player from Hanover, Pa., earned first-team distinction with her perfect GPA.

Nine student-athletes earned second-team honors: Amra Isakovic (women’s volleyball) from Bosnia; women’s soccer players Courtney Stevens and Jessica Stevens of Phoenixville; Eric Green (men’s soccer) from Grand Cayman; Jean-Francois Alphonse (outdoor track) from Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Sarah FitzPatrick (women’s basketball) of Lower Merion; Sara Gundogdu (women’s volleyball) from Istanbul, Turkey; Soren Vogel (women’s volleyball) from New Brunswick, Canada; and Victoria Brown (women’s basketball) from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Eleven student-athletes garnered third-team acclaim: Dom London (men’s basketball) from Christiana, Pa.; Keairah Massiah (women’s basketball) from Philadelphia; Liam Boyles (men’s soccer) from Abington; Maria Cruz Uceda (women’s basketball) from Madrid, Spain; Michael Forde (men’s soccer) from Cambridge, England; Nick Brennan (men’s basketball) from Irvington, N.Y.; Tabatha Teixeira (women’s soccer) of Brampton, Ontario; Tayleur Little (women’s soccer) from Mandeville, Jamaica; Thomas Lindsey (men’s soccer) from Kent, England; Amae Chi Perry “Michael” Okafor (men’s basketball) from Toronto, Ontario; and Luca Momic (men’s soccer) from Belgrade, Serbia.

“We are extremely proud of these students, who have demonstrated skill at balancing their studies together with playing varsity sports,” said Drew Kelly, Harcum College’s Athletics Director and Head Men’s Head Basketball Coach. “We appreciate that the NJCAA values our student-athletes with these awards.”

Victoria Brown and Michael Okafor were named Harcum’s Varsity Athletes of the Year at the college’s athletics banquet in April.

Also, two teams were recognized for earning a collective GPA higher than 3.0: Women’s Basketball (3.46) and Men’s Soccer (3.05).
