2 Delco Colleges Offer Good Returns on Potential Graduate Salaries Vs. Net Cost

Haverford College and Swarthmore College made the list of top 50 U.S. colleges that offer the highest average salary after graduation for their tuition dollars, writes Abigall Hess for CNBC.com.

CNBC Make It identified the true net cost of each college for the typical American student from families making between $48,001 and $75,000— including tuition, fees, books, supplies and other expenses — after subtracting scholarships and grants.

The net cost was divided by a graduates’ expected annual earnings, based on the median salary of graduates with less than five years experience as well as those with 10 or more years experience.

  • Haverford College, a private liberal arts college, was 21st on the list.

Average net cost:  $12,110

Expected annual earnings: Between $48,001 and $75,000.

Median alumni salary, zero to five years experience:  $56,100.

Median alumni salary, 10 or more years experience:  $131,400.

Average salary, early and mid-career: $93,750.

  • Swarthmore College, a private liberal arts college, was 22nd on the list.

Average net cost : $12,638

Expected annual earnings: Between $48,001 and $75,000.

Median alumni salary, zero to five years experience:  $63,800.

Median alumni salary: 10 or more years experience: $129,200.

Average salary, early and mid-career:  $96,500.
