Wawa and Sheetz store allegiances are the topic of a new documentary in the works, “Sheetz vs. Wawa,” writes Hannah Lynn for the Pittsburgh City Paper.

The film, by Pennsylvania filmmaker Matthew Fridglooks, looks at what our allegiances say about our desire for identity and rivalry as it explores the competing passion of fans of Wawa, with its origins in Delaware County; and Sheetz, located in western Pennsylvania.

“We do, for whatever reason, to whatever degree, separate ourselves into areas of identity, and that’s a really good thing. But oftentimes, it causes us not to look really closely at the other side and see what makes us different, but honestly what makes us more the same,” says Fridglooks.

Fridglooks began a Kickstarter campaign April 8, with a $25,000 goal. Donors can pledge their allegiance to Team Sheetz or Team Wawa.

One of the prizes for backing the film project includes a private screening of the completed film, catered by either Sheetz or Wawa.

The film got the OK from Sheetz and Wawa, and both CEOs of the stores will be interviewed, as well as customers, authors, biographers, and authorities in the gas and retail industries.
